How to find the Right Fit: Car Seat Shopping
Are you excited to buy a new car seat, clothes and baby thermometer in Malaysia for your little one? These are all baby essentials, but you may want to shop for a car seat first. This is crucial in transporting your baby safely and security around the metro.
1.Don’t forget to do the pinch test.
See to it that the harness is sturdy enough by doing the pinch test. After you tighten and buckle the harness, pinch that harness at the shoulder. If the harness is strong and comfortable, your fingers would slide off its webbing. If it is quite lose, you would be able to pinch a portion of the webbing between your own fingers. Loose harnesses are not safe.
2.Adjust the harness without bulky clothing.
The car seat harness must be adjusted while your kid’s coat is off. Just put her coat back on, and then rebuckle. At this point, this harness may feel tight but it will soon fit properly. Sometimes, wearing baby winter coats and bulky clothing can prevent the harness from fitting properly.
3.Buy a car seat with a 5-point harness.
A 5-point harness that is properly fitted will give your little one the best possible protection when on transit. This kind of harness has straps that go over the shoulders and hips. Then, it buckles at the crotch. Check the car seat label for the height and weight range of the harness. You need to check this regularly, in order to make sure that your kid hasn’t outgrown it.
4.Utilize the appropriate harness slots.
As your kid grows, shoulder strap placements also changes. On those rear-facing car seats, its shoulder straps must come through those car seat slots, or right blow the kid’s shoulders. For forward-facing seats, all the shoulder straps must be above the shoulders.
